‘Enforcement teams formed to curb overcharging by truck owners ferrying fruit’ | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday said that enforcement teams have been constituted to curb the practice of exorbitant charging and unjustified fares by truck owners ferrying fruits. Responding to a question by MLA Showkat Hussian Ganie, Transport Minister as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated in a written reply that JKRTC has fixed rates for its own fleet to of trucks within Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. "However, the Motor Vehicles Department has issued instructions to all RTOS/ARTOS to take strict action against vehicle owners (Truck Owners) for overcharging of freight rates for which Special already Enforcement Teams are constituted," he said. The Minister said that these teams are paying frequent and surprise visits of prominent fruit mandis falling within their respective areas and ensuring that the practice of charging exorbitant and unjustified fares is curbed and also the vehicles involved in the over-charging are booked under the relevant provision of Motor vehicle Act & Rules—(KNO)
